Welcome to African Young Entrepreneurs-Uganda

What is African YES?

Its a project that was designed by AIESEC in African to provide solutions to the unemployment challenge in African countries.

In Uganda 6,000 students graduate every year from 10 universities.Of these only Makerere University provides 3,000 graduates into the labor market.

Only 30% of the graduates get jobs every year.Of these only 20% get their right full jobs and the 80% are underemployed.

These statistics plus other reasons have inspired the implementation of the YES Project in Uganda.

The African YES Project has been implemented twice and as i write now trainings are on for the third round of the Project.

The objectives o f the project are;
  • To develop young entrepreneurs through skills enhancement, theoretical and practical training.

  • To Boost SME start ups by university students and graduates from universities.
  • To Provide a network of contacts, people, institutions, organizations that can provide support to the young entrepreneurs to take further action steps to implement their business ideas.
  • To provide a platform and open space where young people discuss and share around entrepreneurial ideas and also acting as a courage incubator where young people can find motivation and passion to pursue for their dreams and plans for the future.
The project will run for six weeks and at the end participants will come up with business plans.The best business plan will be rewarded a cash prize which will help them implement their business idea.The cash prize is sponsored by Federation for Enterprise development.
