"Erasmus for young entrepreneurs" aims to support projects allowing up-and-coming EU entrepreneurs to learn in an experienced entrepreneur's company in another EU Member State. The purpose is to facilitate exchange of experiences and networking.

The objective of the action is to contribute to enhancing entrepreneurship, internationalisation and competitiveness of newly established micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and potential new start-up entrepreneurs in the EU. The activity targets people intending to set up a business and, to a lesser extent, recently established entrepreneurs.

The specific aims are:

exchange of experience and information among entrepreneurs with regard to obstacles and challenges in the creation and development of their businesses; training of up-and-coming entrepreneurs allowing them to successfully start and develop their new business ideas; market access and identification of potential partners for new businesses in other EU countries; inter-cultural learning by developing knowledge and experience of other European countries. The call comprises two lots with two different types of activity: Lot 1: European partnerships enhancing the mobility of up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Lot 2: Coordination, support and networking at European level linked to the action mentioned in lot 1. The expected outputs of the pilot project are: support of a limited number of European partnerships implementation of the mobility of around 870 up-and-coming entrepreneurs to a host entrepreneur in another EU Member State creation of new businesses and spin-off companies development of a network of new entrepreneurs and intermediary organisations Eligible applicants: Any public entity or private body can participate in this call for proposals. This may include entities or bodies active in the field of entrepreneurship promotion or in the field of transnational placement services, in particular: chambers of commerce and industry, chambers of handicrafts or similar bodies, business support organisations and start-up centres, business associations and business support networks, public entities offering business support services, education and training providers (public, private, sectoral etc.) active in the field of business support, training placement organisations. Applicants must be established in an EU Member State. EFTA/EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switserland) or candidate countries (Croatia, Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, Turkey) are admitted to participate as project partners. Budget and project duration: The total budget earmarked for the cofinancing of projects amounts to EUR 2 850 000. Financial assistance from the Commission cannot exceed 90 % of the total eligible costs. Lot 1: No grant will amount to more than EUR 140 000. The maximum duration of projects is 18 months. Lot 2: The maximum grant will be EUR 200 000. The maximum duration of the project is 22 months. Activities of lot 1 and lot 2 must start before 31 December 2008. Money cannot buy happiness nor can it buy love as sang by the Beatles during the 1960s. But money certainly can help people enjoy a lively, dynamic retirement. The issue is not accumulating wealth for its own sake, but rather having access to the financial resources needed to be able to enjoy whatever particular activities and lifestyle people select for themselves.
